Nova Raiders

Pilot a nimble starfighter through endless sectors of alien swarms that swoop in from every side in tight formations. Catch spread, laser, missile, shield and magnet power-ups, survive a huge boss with changing bullet patterns every five waves, and spend collected crystals on permanent hangar upgrades between runs.

How to play Nova Raiders

  1. Press Launch. Drag your finger, move the mouse or use WASD or the arrow keys to fly. Your ship fires on its own.
  2. Shoot the alien formations as they swoop into place. Swoopers dive out of the formation toward you, so slide out of their path.
  3. Catch the glowing capsules dropped by carrier ships. Spread, Laser and Missiles swap your weapon, and picking the same one again raises its level up to 5.
  4. Pick up a Shield to absorb hits and a Magnet to pull crystals toward you from across the screen.
  5. Clear all five waves of a sector to face a boss. It changes its bullet patterns in three phases as its health drops.
  6. When your hull is gone the run ends. Spend crystals in the Hangar on permanent upgrades, then launch again.

Tips and strategy

  • Keep your ship low on the screen but not at the very bottom. You need room to dodge the divers.
  • Stay inside the gaps of a bullet pattern instead of fleeing to a corner. Your hit area is much smaller than the ship.
  • Take a new weapon when it suits the moment: Spread for crowds, Laser for tough ships and bosses.
  • Chain kills quickly to build the combo multiplier before it resets.
  • Buy Hull Plating and Rapid Fire first. Magnet Coil pays for itself once the waves get crowded.

Nova Raiders FAQ

How do the upgrades work?

Every alien drops crystals. When a run ends they are added to your bank, and you can spend them in the Hangar on seven permanent upgrades such as hull, fire rate, damage and magnet range.

How often does a boss appear?

A boss attacks at the end of every sector, which means after every fifth wave. Each sector after that is harder, and the bosses take more damage to destroy.

Is Nova Raiders free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser on Popyca, with nothing to download or install and no account needed.

Can I play Nova Raiders on my phone?

Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers. Tap Play to open it full screen and hold your phone upright.

Does Nova Raiders save my progress?
