    Shadow Leap

    A razor-sharp ninja platformer with 60 handcrafted levels across a bamboo forest, temple roofs, snowy peaks and a neon city. Run, wall-jump up narrow shafts, dash across chasms and dodge spinning shurikens, lasers and crumbling roof tiles, with instant respawn on every death. Grab 3 hidden scrolls per level to unlock new ninjas and race the clock for three stars.

    How to play Shadow Leap

    1. Press Play to start the next level, or open Levels to pick any unlocked level.
    2. Run with the arrow keys or A and D. On a phone, use the left and right buttons in the bottom-left corner.
    3. Jump with Space, W, the up arrow or the big jump button. Hold it for a higher jump, tap it for a short hop.
    4. Jump against a wall and jump again to kick off it. Two walls close together make a shaft you can climb.
    5. Press Shift or X, or the dash button, to dash. You get one dash in the air, and it refills when you land or touch a spirit orb.
    6. Reach the glowing gate to finish. Your time decides the stars, and the 3 scrolls you grab unlock new ninjas.

    Tips and strategy

    • The timer starts on your first move, so take a second to look at the level before you go.
    • Jumps forgive a slightly late press at a ledge and an early press before landing, so keep a steady rhythm.
    • Dash at the top of a jump to cross the widest gaps, because the dash keeps you level for a moment.
    • Cracked roof tiles fall shortly after you land on them, so keep moving and never wait on one.
    • Lasers, neon blocks and turrets all run on a fixed beat. Watch one cycle, then go.
    • Scrolls stay collected when you die, so grab a risky one first and finish the level on the next try.

    How do I get three stars?

    Finish a level under its target time. The result screen shows the time you need for three stars, and your best time is saved for every level.

    How do I unlock new ninjas?

    Collect scrolls. Each level hides 3 of them, and new ninjas unlock at scroll milestones in the Ninjas screen.

    Is Shadow Leap free?

    Yes. It is free to play in your browser on Popyca, with nothing to download or install and no account needed.

    Can I play Shadow Leap on my phone?

    Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers. Tap Play to open it full screen; you can hold your phone upright or sideways.
