Royal Regions

A pure logic puzzle with a royal twist. Place one crown in every row, column and colour region, and never let two crowns touch, not even diagonally. 40 hand-checked puzzles from 5x5 to 10x10, each with exactly one solution, plus a daily puzzle and hints.

How to play Royal Regions

  1. The board is split into coloured regions. Your job is to place exactly one crown in every region.
  2. There must also be exactly one crown in every row and in every column.
  3. No two crowns may touch each other, not even at a corner.
  4. Tap a square once to put a small mark that means no crown here. Tap again to place a crown. A third tap clears the square.
  5. Crowns that break a rule flash red so you can see the mistake straight away.
  6. Place all the crowns without a conflict to solve the puzzle. Every puzzle has exactly one solution.

Tips and strategy

  • Look for a region that is very small or lies in a single row. Its crown must be there.
  • When a region fits only inside two rows, no other region can use those two rows.
  • Use marks freely. Cross out every square next to a crown and every square in its row, column and region.
  • Think in pairs of regions: if two regions share only two columns, the crowns of those regions fill both columns.
  • The hint places one correct crown, or points out a wrong crown, but it takes away a star.
