    Calm, classic sudoku with five difficulty levels, from relaxed Easy grids to Master puzzles that need X-Wings and Swordfish. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and the hint button explains the next logical step in one short line. Play the daily challenge to build a streak, track your best times and unlock soothing themes.

    How to play Sudoku

    1. Fill the 9x9 grid so every row, every column and every 3x3 box contains the numbers 1 to 9 exactly once.
    2. Tap an empty cell, then tap a number. The numbers given at the start cannot be changed.
    3. Switch on Notes to pencil in small candidate numbers. Auto fills in all candidates for you.
    4. Every puzzle has exactly one solution. With the 3-strike mistake limit, three wrong numbers end the game; Relaxed mode removes the limit.

    Tips and strategy

    • Start with the numbers that already appear most often. Scan each box for the one cell where that number can still go (a hidden single).
    • When a cell has only one candidate left, fill it in (a naked single). Notes make these easy to spot.
    • If two cells in a unit share the same two candidates, those numbers cannot go anywhere else in that row, column or box.
    • Turn on Highlight same numbers and Auto-remove notes in Settings to keep the grid tidy as you play.
    • Stuck on Expert or Master? Hint names the technique, such as X-Wing or Swordfish, and shows which cells it uses.

    Sudoku FAQ

    What is the difference between the difficulty levels?

    Each level is graded by the hardest technique it needs: Easy uses only singles, Medium adds pointing and claiming, Hard needs pairs and triples, Expert X-Wing and XY-Wing, and Master Swordfish, XYZ-Wing and W-Wing.

    How does the daily challenge work?

    There is one new sudoku every day. Solving it on consecutive days builds your streak, and the calendar shows which days you solved.

    Is Sudoku free?

    Yes. It is free to play in your browser on Popyca, with nothing to download or install and no account needed.

    Can I play Sudoku on my phone?

    Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers. Tap Play to open it full screen and hold your phone upright.

    Does Sudoku save my progress?

    Yes, automatically in this browser. It keeps your best times, stats, daily streak and calendar, unlocked themes, settings and the puzzle in progress. Sign in with Google on Popyca to keep your progress in your account and continue on another device.
