    Opens in Classic mode with the familiar grey grid; Modern mode adds the rest. The classic mine-clearing logic game, polished for phones and desktop. Play Beginner, Intermediate and Expert boards, switch on No-guessing boards that are always solvable by pure logic, beat the daily board everyone shares, or climb 36 adventure levels with shaped fields and star times. Your first tap is always safe, hints show the next sure move and new themes unlock as you earn stars.

    How to play Minesweeper

    1. Tap or left-click a tile to dig it. Your first tap is always safe.
    2. A number shows how many mines touch that tile, including diagonals. An empty tile opens its neighbours automatically.
    3. Hold or right-click a tile to plant a flag where you know a mine is. On touch screens the Flag mode switch makes every tap plant flags.
    4. Dig every safe tile to win. Tap a number that already has all its flags to open every other tile around it.

    Tips and strategy

    • Start from the 1s along an edge of the opened area. A 1 that touches only one hidden tile tells you exactly where a mine is.
    • Learn the 1-2-1 pattern on a straight wall: the mines sit under the two 1s, and the tile under the 2 is safe.
    • Opening around a completed number saves many taps, but only do it when you are sure the flags are right.
    • Switch on No guessing if you hate 50/50 endings. Those boards can always be solved by logic alone.
    • Each board gives 3 hints. A hint points to a sure mine or safe tile, or warns you about a wrong flag.

    Which version of Minesweeper is this?

    By default you play Classic: the familiar grey grid with a smiley and LED counters, and Beginner, Intermediate and Expert boards. Switch to Modern for no-guessing boards, hints, a daily board and adventure levels. Your choice is remembered.

    What size are the boards?

    Beginner is 9x9 with 10 mines, Intermediate 16x16 with 40, and Expert 30x16 with 99. Adventure levels use shaped fields such as hearts and rings, and the daily board changes size through the week.

    What is a no-guess board?

    A board built so you never need to guess: from the first safe tap, every tile can be worked out from the numbers. You can switch it on for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert.

    Is Minesweeper free?

    Yes. It is free to play in your browser on Popyca, with nothing to download or install and no account needed.

    Can I play Minesweeper on my phone?

    Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers. Tap Play to open it full screen; you can hold your phone upright or sideways.

    Does Minesweeper save my progress?

    Yes, automatically in this browser. It keeps your best times, adventure stars, daily streak, stats and unlocked themes. Sign in with Google on Popyca to keep your progress in your account and continue on another device.
